“Extra care housing is extremely popular as it offers tailored accommodation and individual support needs to older people. There’s a critical shortage of this housing and I’m delighted that this new programme will help towards achieving our target of 1,000 extra care homes across the city by 2028, enabling us to continue to support some of our most vulnerable of residents.”

Councillor Debra Coupar, Leeds City Council’s Executive Member for Communities

Our Partnership:

In May 2020 planning permission was granted by Leeds City Council for the second of four Extra Care schemes, Greenmill Gardens, Seacroft, as part of the next phase in an innovative multi-million pound project to deliver improved independent supported living provision across Leeds.

The integrated housing and care scheme provides supported services for residents, as and when they may need them, while also providing an environment where they can live independent and fulfilling lives within their own homes. This development is situated within the heart of the local Seacroft neighbourhood, creating new spaces for the existing community, as well as the new residents, with the provision of shared community facilities and amenities.

“We want residents to remain active for longer, be less isolated and feel empowered to do the things they love. Our services encourage engagement with the local community, including the creation of shared facilities and amenities that everyone can enjoy.”

Lindsay Courtney, Clinical Lead Intermediate Care and Reablement, Home Group

“It’s vital that new residences of the highest standards are built to cater for the often-complex needs of our increasingly aging population. It will therefore be a privilege to work with Lovell Later Living, Home Group and Leeds City Council on Greenmill Gardens. We look forward to creating a scheme that not only provides an exceptional environment for assisted living but will also be a key new asset for the local community.”

Mark Lazenby, Operations Director for Morgan Sindall Construction in Yorkshire and North East
