- Planning and design consultancy Barton Willmore assisted in securing planning permission for the site with Torsion Group Ltd serving as contractor.
- Part of Leeds City Council’s £30 million housing programme to construct over 1000 new homes by 2028.

In late 2019 planning permission was granted by Leeds City Council for the first of four Extra Care schemes, Amblers Orchard, West Ardsley as part of the first phase of Leeds City Council’s ambitious and innovative multi-million pound project to deliver improved independent supported living accommodation across Leeds.

The Amblers Orchard Extra Care scheme comprises of 63 one and two bedroom apartments, all of which are available for affordable rent to over 55’s and persons with disabilities. The scheme has been delivered as a state of the art facility with dementia friendly interior design, assisting with wayfinding and helping all residents understand their place and the shared facilities available. Amblers Orchard provides care and support to allow residents live independently with the peace of mind of knowing support is there, if needed.
Embedded within the heart of the West Ardsley community, Amblers Orchard provides shared facilities including dining options and a salon. The residents also have the opportunity to participate in group activities and be a part of the local community at the onsite café, Pippins, which is open to residents and the public.
