- Planning and design consultancy Barton Willmore assisted in securing planning permission for the site with Torsion Group Ltd serving as contractor.
- Part of Leeds City Council’s £30 million housing programme to construct over 1000 new homes by 2028.
- Work commenced in early 2020 with completion anticipated in September 2021.
- 100% of the units built will be available as affordable rental properties.
- The scheme will provide 24 hour emergency care and planned extra care services to support residents.
- Enhanced community facilities including café, salon and landscaped communal gardens will be accessible for residents and local community use.
In late 2019 planning permission was granted by Leeds City Council for the first of four Extra Care schemes, Amblers Orchard, West Ardsley as part of the first phase of Leeds City Council’s ambitious and innovative multi-million pound project to deliver improved independent supported living accommodation across Leeds.

The Amblers Orchard Extra Care scheme will comprise of 63 one and two bedroom apartments, all of which will be available for affordable rent to over 55’s and persons with disabilities. The scheme will be delivered as a state of the art facility with dementia friendly interior design, to assist with wayfinding and help all residents understand their place and the shared facilities available. Amblers Orchard will provide care and support to allow residents to allow them to live independently with the peace of mind of knowing support is there if needed.
Embedded within the heart of the West Ardsley community, Amblers Orchard will provide shared facilities including dining options and a salon. The residents will also have the opportunity to participate in group activities and be a part of the local community at the onsite café which will be open to residents and the public.
