Planning consent for the scheme was secured in March 2021 after delays due to the challenge of ensuring the scheme achieved nitrate neutrality. During 2019 a temporary moratorium was placed on all planning applications across the county, under the advice of Natural England, due to the excess nitrates measured as leaking into the Solent. By working with Natural England and planning consultants Asbri Planning, Lovell Later Living and Hampshire County Council successfully developed a tap led innovative water saving solution which enabled the scheme to achieve full planning consent and once in operation will save 3000 litres of water per day from this development considerably limiting nitrate waste. Following this planning consent, movement was swift to the ground breaking, which took place at the end of July 2021, with works on site commencing in August 2021, led by Morgan Sindall Construction, our sister company, serving as contractor.
