“We are delighted to strengthen our partnership with Lovell Later Living and fund our second Extra Care development in Hampshire. Together we have established great relationships with Hampshire County Council, working collaboratively to deliver exciting housing solutions for local customers over 55. We believe this development will offer a real opportunity for people to live in a well-designed, sustainable and safe home, supported by a dynamic community. In addition, it will create exciting new employment opportunities when the care team are established.”

Andy Lomas, Managing Director of Places for People Living Plus

Wellness suite
Hair and beauty salon
Restaurant to enjoy meals with other residents or guests
Landscaped communal gardens
Communal lounge and social hub

Planning consent for the scheme was secured in March 2021 after delays due to the challenge of ensuring the scheme achieved nitrate neutrality. During 2019 a temporary moratorium was placed on all planning applications across the county, under the advice of Natural England, due to the excess nitrates measured as leaking into the Solent. By working with Natural England and planning consultants Asbri Planning, Lovell Later Living and Hampshire County Council successfully developed a tap led innovative water saving solution which enabled the scheme to achieve full planning consent and once in operation will save 3000 litres of water per day from this development considerably limiting nitrate waste. Following this planning consent, movement was swift to the ground breaking, which took place at the end of July 2021, with works on site commencing in August 2021, led by Morgan Sindall Construction, our sister company, serving as contractor.

“We’re delighted to be working in collaboration with sister company, Lovell Later Living and Hampshire County Council to deliver this high-quality scheme for the residents and the wider Gosport community[…] In terms of our approach to the project, we are guided by our own Decarbonising Communities strategy which allows us to ensure that the building will be delivered in a sustainable way.”

Clifford Kinch, Area Director for Morgan Sindall Construction

“This, in addition to the Nightingale Lodge scheme in Romsey, which we are also developing in partnership with Hampshire County Council and Places for People Living Plus, marks significant progress in the response required to meet the needs for Extra Care across the county.

“It is testament to the commitment of all parties to protect the environment that the Extra Care scheme has finally commenced on site, having developed an innovative and sustainable, ecologically responsible solution which will allow the development to become an intrinsic part of the Gosport community. Continuing our commitment to support our partners deliver vital specialist housing with access to care and support, right in the heart of communities across Hampshire while being respectful of the need for environmental sustainability is at the forefront of Lovell Later Living business strategy and core values of the Morgan Sindall Group .”

Paula Broadbent, Managing Director, Lovell Later Living

The Gosport development will complete in the Spring 2023, and Lovell Later Living will continue to work closely with Hampshire County Council to accelerate developments across the county including another Extra Care scheme at New Milton.
